Zambosur’s pride

Annie Sitjar of Lantian, Labangan, is the 2008 National Gawad Saka
awardee and one of the Top 10 Outstanding Rural Women of the
Philippines 2010. A farmer strictly adhering organic agriculture, she
feeds her swine with agua de cacao, a potential source of protein,
fat, fiber. She also spreads rice straw back to her paddies as natural

New corn developed by UPLB planted in Zanorte

Corn farmer Artemio Esolana and his family, a native of Ilihan, Jose
Dalman, Zanorte, shows an IBP Variety 6 corn which he recently
harvested. Developed by the Institute of Plant Breeding (IBP)
University of the Philippines, Los Baños, Laguna (UPLB), the IBP
Variety 6 corn is described as with "big corn ears which are
